My son loves superheroes. When we moved to a new house, he looked forward to a superhero room. I really liked the signs with superhero logos, but at $15 and up, they were a little pricey. I opted for a cheaper, more time consuming route- make my own.
I used my computer to print out each logo at the size I wanted. Various logos can be found on the internet. Search and find a high quality logo that you like, and save or copy it to your computer. I chose to place the logos in Microsoft Publisher, where I was able to size each logo to approximately the same size. I then printed the logos for the next step in my process.
At first, I wanted to use framed canvas but discovered the size that I wanted (12 by 12 inches) was not available and would probably be more than I wanted to spend. At a local craft and hobby shop, I found canvas boards at the size I wanted for about $3 each.
My first step with the canvas was to paint the background colors.
Once the backgrounds had dried, I traced the logos onto the canvas using a pencil method. To transfer the logo, I colored over the back of the logo with lead pencil, then traced the front of the design. The lead on the back of the design transfers onto the canvas.
I painted my logos how I wanted and allowed them to dry between colors if necessary. Once totally done and dry, I sprayed a clear coat of paint on them to prevent them from getting ruined by water.
The end result was six superhero logos for my son’s new room and one happy boy!
